Role Playing Facebook Group:Jul24Mon6:00 pm MTG: Commander NightMTG: Commander NightJul 24 @ 6:00 pm – 11:00 pmIn this casual, multiplayer format, you start with a life total of 40 (rather than the usual 20) and choose a legendary creature to serve as your Commander. You then choose cards to match your Commander’s color identity to build your deck. A card’s color identity is any mana symbol appearing on that card. The commander deck contains 100 cards: 1 Commander and 99 others. Your deck may contain only one of any individual card, with the exception of basic lands. In the Magic Online version of this format, your Commander is the only card in your sideboard. The Commander enters play in the command zone. You may cast your commander from the command zone for its normal costs, plus an additional two mana for each previous time it’s been cast from the command zone this game. If your Commander is ever headed to the graveyard or exiled, you may return it to its command zone instead. In addition to the normal Magic loss conditions, you can be defeated in this format by taking 21 or more points of combat damage from a single Commander over the course of the game. The Commander is tracked across zone-changes for this purpose.Jul25Tue6:00 pm Star Wars: X-Wing Organized PlayStar Wars: X-Wing Organized PlayJul 25 @ 6:00 pm – 11:00 pmX-Wing! Want a way to play that offers a level playing field and lets you check out new cards at the same time? Then a limited format like booster draft may be for you. Unlike constructed formats, where you arrive with a carefully constructed deck ready to play, limited formats allow you to build a deck from new cards as part of the game. At the start of booster draft, each player opens a booster pack and picks a single card. (Don’t show the other players what you pick!) Then everyone passes the rest of their pack to player on their left, each player then picks a card from the pack they just received before passing again. This process continues until all the cards in those packs have been drafted. Then each player opens a second pack, but this time, you pass the pack to your right. After all those cards are drafted, you do the same with the third pack, passing to the left again. Once all the packs have been drafted, everyone builds a deck from the cards they have selected. You may add as many basic lands (Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains, and Forests) to your deck as you’d like, but each deck must have at least 40 cards. There are always people available to teach the game if you’re interested. Many of our Veteran Players have gotten together to support a very flexible, rewarding, and newcomer friendly league. So how is this any different from a normal Journeyman League? First you have to declare if you are a Veteran Player. Veteran Players are established in the hobby; possessing both experience and complete armies. Only you can determine if you qualify as a Veteran Player. As an example Acker owns 2 different armies but rarely plays; he is not a Veteran Player. You are not locked into your faction or warcasters, if you are not a Veteran Player. Instead of starting with Battleboxes week 1 will be 0 points. So you can change what is in your warcaster’s Battlegroup as you see fit. You can score bonus points for defeating Veteran Players if you are not a Veteran. Points are not tallied up at the end to determine a winner. Instead they are redeemed for Warmachine and Hordes Products. Everyone’s a winner! The list of eligible prize support product will be updated weekly. Finally your entry includes a end of league Steamroller Tournament. There is more information available as well as the full league rules and write up. We will make it all available in our Facebook Group.
